Kinja'd!!!

And they accidentally banned Wiggles the Mime instead. My first post was about !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . When you read that post you’ll find that I haven’t changed, which is cherry! But let me not ramble on like Wiggles did. Why am I having an Oppo anniversary 6 months after the fact instead of on the “annual” part? Aha! Because I’m at the halfway point of a three year goal I set 18 months ago which happens to be the subject of the first thing I ever shared with you all. See, my weirdness is logical and slightly endearing!

*In truth it was a five year plan, but I was two years in by the time I could tell you all about it. Irregardless and evermind, that’s behind the point!

Simply put, it has occurred to me that I never introduced myself to you all, nor have I ever let you lot ask me anything since I usually post and run. Obviously you’ve picked up a lot of information by now since I ask a lot questions, share too much information, get into trouble once or thrice, and write precisely the way I speak, think, and feel.

But maybe, just maybe two steps prior to unlikely, I’ve left you scratching your head and you just want a straight answer without a tangent. Maybe for me to recant on a secant for a change. Or you’re good as is. That’s neat. I’ll be around so you can ask me later too. It’s all gravy when the best parts are beneath the surface. That’s what they say anyways.

You’re the guy who only likes expensive things? I thought you like Hyundais? That’s all I know about you.

What’s your favorite song to play on the marimba?

Love Kia because that’s what I’ve been around for nearly a decade. Really like Genesis and I’m moving up to “neutral” with Hyundai. I post a lot about Hyundai-Kia because they are putting in a hell of an effort to make the cars we’re asking for at the prices we want them. (Plus I love Kia so trying to like their mom). I started off trying to convince myself Hyundai was worth considering, but as I noticed that nobody pays attention to what the 4th largest automaker in the world is doing, I decided to share whatever I learned.

My first name is Joshua.

I’ve never asked for their number, too shy...

Bach, Chaconne from Partita No. 2 for Solo Violin. (Favorite to play on marimba)

Miyake, Chain for Solo Marimba. (My favorite to perform)

Bennett, After Syrinx II for Solo Marimba. (Favorite piece for marimba, period).

My degree (and interest) is in composition and theory, so that’s a huge impact on my tastes.

Spearmint or peppermint?

Dr. Pepper or Mountain Dew?

Hardwood or carpeted floors in a bedroom?

Multicolored on a single string, or single color string Christmas lights?

Glasses or contacts?

Amber or red rear turn signals?

That should about cover all the important questions.

Spearmint, sounds vicious!

Dr. Pepper, I was told Mt. Dew makes you sterile back in middle school and it’s still in the back of my mind and keeps me from enjoying it. (Though my once-fiancée was addicted to Mt. Dew, so I drunk it then).

Carpeted, wood is for heavy traffic areas.

Multiple single color strings, I need control over my sequencing but room for creativity.

Tie. I like the way I look either way, but I like the fact that I can wiggle or push my glasses up in order to make people think whatever I’m saying must be correct.

AMBER! I loathe, absolutely loathe braking indicators as brake AND turn indicators. The FWD of indicators!!

Favorite mallets (or at least brand)?

Do you also despise Keiko Abe?

I never introduced myself either. I just showed up with 3 black Preludes and a black Lab one day.

Why those wheels on the Amanti.

I was all over the Katarzyna Mycka line from Marimba One. I used a few others like the Leigh Howard Stevens line of course, but the Mycka’s were an extension of myself.

I never had problems with Keiko Abe, my issue was with Evelyn Glennie (which sounds awful of me but I have to be honest).

Hahaha. Fair enough. I just hate the artificial calculus injected into most modern percussion writing and she was one of the first I had that experience with.

I need to look more into the Marimba One mallets. I have a set my dad bought and they sound wonderful but they’re rattan and crazy warped.

First time I drove the Amanti I almost understeered into a wall going 30 mph! So because of concern for my safety and to make the car somewhat interesting I decided to try aftermarket wheels as my first ever “mod.” I went to Rent-a-Wheel that way if I didnt like them I could just stick with the stock 16s or try something else.

I wanted to do some 18 inch wheels, black five spoke with a machined lip. The wheels you see on the car had just come out on the market and the guys in the shop wanted to place them on the car to take pictures. I let the and they were all super excited about how the car looked on those 20 inch Strada Raggios so I drove with them on for a week. People talked to me and complimented the car at the gas station, at church, at the car wash, anywhere I drove it. One girl practically did a stoppie trying to look at them. So I bought them and they have been on the car for the last four years.

I think they are completely absurd, just wacky and stupid. But unfortunately silliness and absurdity are my humor and thus everytime I look at the car I smile and laugh. I still get a ton of compliments on that Amanti, I get compliments on the Grand Cherokee and XF too, but the Amanti reactions (especially from very young kids and middle-aged adults) is why I still have the car even though I’ve only driven it 12,000 miles in four years.

You deserve an award. I had a Kia for a year and was ready to burn the whole peninsula down.

Well my first car was a Geo Tracker with no working doors, no heat or A/C, no radio, and felt like it would fly up like a kite due to the amount of air going into the rag top at speeds over 60 mph. The fact I could enter my Kia Rio without going through the trunk was a luxury.

Is spearmint not a thing in the US?

Yay! Dr. Pepper ftw!

I dunno, wood isn’t bad in bedrooms, our whole house is almost all hardwood and it’s comfortable enough! :)

Ooo, fanceh!

Ah, good call! Never thought about that before....*pushes up his glasses to remain looking vaguely intelligent*

1000 times yes!!! Amber turn signals on the rear make far more sense!!!
